Das Zentrum für Versöhnungsforschung ist eines der größeren Forschungszentren der
Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena. Mit 14 Professorinnen und Professoren aus 5 Fakultäten, 2 Graduiertenprogrammen mit zurzeit 19 eingeschriebenen Doktoranden und Drittmittelprojekten mit einem Gesamtvolumen von über 10 Millionen Euro ist das JCRS das einzige größere Zentrum für Friedensforschung in Thüringen.
Das Zentrum wurde 2013 gegründet und feiert am 29. und 30. Juni 2023 sein 10-jähriges
Bestehen. Ziel des Zentrums ist die transdisziplinäre Erforschung von Versöhnungsprozessen weltweit. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Versöhnung zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich seit dem 2. Weltkrieg, die Versöhnung in Südafrika seit dem Ende der Apartheid, die Politik der nationalen Versöhnung nach dem Völkermord in Ruanda oder die Frage nach Versöhnung nach den demokratischen Umbrüche in Ostdeutschland, Osteuropa, Lateinamerika, Asien und Afrika.
Wie man in Deutschland, im Land der Täter, über die Shoah sprechen kann, wie man kritische Erinnerung weiterträgt und Zeichen der Hoffnung auf eine Überwindung der Wurzeln der Verbrechen gegen die Juden, setzen kann, beschäftigt das JCRS seit vielen Jahren. In dem DFG-Projekt „Hearts of Flesh – not Stone“ (2013-2021) ging es um die Begegnung von Palästinenserinnen und Palästinensern mit dem Leiden von Juden in Auschwitz und Buchenwald und um die Begegnung von jungen Israelis mit der Leidensgeschichte von Palästinensern in Flüchtlingslagern. Im Rahmen der Edition des Briefwechsels von Martin Buber finden wir immer wieder Spuren der Shoah, wie etwa in Zeichnungen, die ein kleiner Junge aus Gera an Martin Buber geschickt hat, kurz bevor er als Jude in Auschwitz ermordet wurde. Vor diesem Hintergrund bietet es sich an, den 10. Jahrestag des Bestehens des JCRS mit diesem Konzert zu begehen.

The Centre for Reconciliation Studies is one of the larger research centres at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. With 14 professors from 5 faculties, 2 graduate faculties, 2 graduate programmes with currently 19 enrolled doctoral students and externally funded projects with a total volume of more than 10 million euros, the JCRS is the only major centre for peace research in Thuringia.
The centre was founded in 2013 and will celebrate its 10th anniversary on 29 and 30 June 2023. The JCRS' purpose is the transdisciplinary research of reconciliation processes worldwide. This includes, among other things, the reconciliation with France after the Second World War, reconciliation in South Africa following the end of Apartheid, the politics of national reconciliation after the genocide in Rwanda, as well as the question of reconciliation after the democratic upheavals in East Germany, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.
How to speak about the Shoah in Germany, the country of the perpetrators, how to carry and set signs of hope for overcoming the roots of the crimes against the Jewish people? The JCRS has been particularly concerned with these questions for many years. In the DFG-project "Hearts of Flesh - not Stone" (2013-2021) the Centre also explored the nuances of Palestinians encountering the suffering of Jews in Auschwitz and Buchenwald, as well as the encounter of young Israelis with the suffering of Palestinians in refugee camps. In the context of the edition of the correspondence of Martin Buber, we also find traces of the Shoah again and again, for example through the drawings that a young boy from Gera sent to Martin Buber shortly before he was murdered as a Jew in Auschwitz. Against this background, it makes sense to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the JCRS with this concert.
